How I work

PROJECT BRIEFING

It can be very tempting when agreeing to work with a client to plunge straight into content creation after a quick ‘get to know you’ chat. However, adopting this approach increases the likelihood of miscommunications occurring, assumptions being made and relationships souring.

As such, before starting work with any client, I like to engage in a project definition exercise. It’s an opportunity for both of us to get on the same page, iron out your requirements and for you to understand what you can expect to receive at the end of the project.

During this exercise, we will discuss and agree on the type, format, purpose and length of the copy.

We can explore who your audience is, how you’d like them to feel and what you’d like them to do.

We’ll also identify the tone of voice you’d like to adopt and sign off on the logistics, including timescales, limitations, the number of revisions and the degree of oversight required.

CREATING CONTENT

Whether you are setting strategy, demonstrating impact, raising awareness of your cause, trying to generate funds or strengthening your brand and culture, I can help you with your content needs.

CORPORATE DOCUMENTATION

Your corporate communications needn’t be dense, hard-to-read documents.

I can write a range of engaging, transparent and outcome-focused reports that showcase your charity’s impact and hold the interest of your readers.

Equally, if it’s your charity’s brand and culture you wish to strengthen, I can create material that sets out your organisation’s values and helps you to align your charity’s strategic priorities with its decision making.

TYPES OF DOCUMENTS

  • Annual reports
  • Annual reviews
  • Impact reports
  • Governance and other positioning statements
  • Equality and diversity plans
  • Trustee handbooks
  • Culture handbooks
  • Induction handbooks
  • Policy handbooks
  • Strategy documents – vision, mission and values
  • Statements of commitment.

NEWSLETTERS

Newsletters are a fast and cost-effective content vehicle. They can help you to reach a large number of people and are known to have high conversion rates.

When done well, they can help your supporters to follow your mission, keep up to date with your charity’s latest developments and feel more involved in your work.

However, newsletters require planning and considerable forethought and as such can be time consuming.

If you lack the time or capacity to produce timely newsletter content, please give me a call, I would be happy to discuss your requirements.

STORYTELLING AND CASE-STUDIES

Stories and case-studies are key to helping your target audience understand what you do and who you help.

They can also help to demonstrate your charity’s impact, which is vital if you are seeking to retain the support and funding of your stakeholders.

By putting storytelling at the very heart of my copywriting, I can help to create an authentic and durable connection between your narrative and those you are trying to reach.

BLOGS

Engaging blogs are a powerful communication tool. They can generate interest in your cause, drive traffic to your website and cement your authority on a specific subject matter.

If you’re struggling to find time to write a blog which not only informs readers but inspires them to act, please get in touch. I love to create passionate, thought-provoking blogs which attract followers and start conversations.

EMAILS

Emails can be a brilliant fundraising tool and are often the most cost-effective way for non-profit organisations to raise awareness, secure leads, generate funds and retain donors. However, with inboxes swamped by emails day after day, engagement rates are declining.

Creating attention-grabbing subject headings, writing with urgency and creating informative and impactful content is not easy. If you’re finding it difficult to craft effective fundraising emails, please let me know. I’m happy to help.

HAPPY CUSTOMER

“The reports are now error-free, easy to read and better engage the reader…

“I needed someone to copyedit my charity’s annual report and impact report and asked Geetha if she could take a look at them. She did a fantastic job. She fully understood the brief and copyedited both documents quickly and thoroughly. The reports are now error-free, easy to read and better engage the reader. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Geetha. She is professional, easy to work with and an excellent copyeditor.”
